The city of Veyra never slept.
Behind its golden towers and crowded streets, criminals ruled the shadows, and powerful men paid fortunes to make their enemies disappear.
Tonight, one name was whispered in every dark corner.
Shadow Loft.
A man stood silently on the roof of an abandoned tower, his black hat hiding most of his face. A long coat moved with the wind, and two blades rested against his waist.
Then he opened his eyes.
A strange blue light flashed through the darkness.
Lightning.
Loft looked across the city and spotted his target entering a heavily guarded mansion.
Twenty guards surrounded the building.
He smiled.
“Twenty?”
His hand moved toward his blade.
“That’s almost insulting.”
He disappeared from the rooftop.
Moments later, the first guard collapsed without making a sound.
Then another.
And another.
Loft moved through the darkness like a ghost, his blades flashing faster than the human eye could follow.
When the final guard turned around, Loft was already standing behind him.
“Too slow.”
The guard fell.
Loft entered the mansion.
But before he could reach his target, every candle in the building suddenly went out.
A voice echoed from the darkness.
“So, the legendary assassin finally came.”
Loft's glowing eyes narrowed.
Someone had been waiting for him.
He slowly drew both blades.
“Good.”
A faint smile appeared beneath his hat.
“I was getting bored.”
